JESUS CRUSADES - TELEVISION & MEDIA
CHRISTIAN TELEVISION AND MEDIA
This ministry, as a result of its desire to reach the un-churched, as well as the church, has always believed that the media, whether it be print, radio, or television, was a tool that God could and would use to go places few preachers would ever be able to see in their flesh.  From the inception of this ministry, because of its walk of faith, we have seen the secular media drawn to it and used as a vehicle to express the Word of God.  Examples of this, was Channel 8, and Channel 13 television in Dallas, TX.  Bro. Orand would always say, "all that good publicity, and it didn't cost us anything!"  Bro. and Sis. Orand, as well as gaining exposure through secular television, have also been guests on CTN, CET, and TBN. (Click on networks for pictures.)

The Jesus Crusades National Radio Broadcast was a 15 minute weekly radio program that was aired in fifty cities throughout America via satellite in the the early eighties.  Many times you would find Bro. Orand in a giant truck stop on his way to the next Crusade location with the big Gospel Tent Cathedral, sitting on the steps of his 33' travel trailer with his little Marantz recorder, speaking into a microphone as the big diesel rigs idled right beside him, saying, "this is Bro. Orand, coming to you live, by the power of the Holy Ghost,  Jesus wants to heal you, and make you free!"  The Jesus Crusades National Radio Broadcast was well received during its time of airing.

After having been on various Christian television programs through the nineteen-eighties, Bro. Orand saw a tremendous need for the exposure of local ministries including  pastoral, evangelistic, teaching and prophetic.  While the Christian Networks did offer limited local access, it was found that few  local ministries actually had access to Christian television.

In 1990, God opened the door for Bro. and Sis. Orand and the ministry to begin a television program on a new Christian television station in the Houston, TX area, Channel 57.  Bro. Orand had the option to deliver a format of his choosing.  After much prayer and fasting, the program "Meet The Pastor" (click for pictures) was produced and hosted by the Orands.  Channel 57 was sold, and Channel 22, Houston, TX was built where the Meet The Pastor program became the number two interview program for the station.  As a result, over 350 Houston area ministers were able to gain exposure via television, many of which would have never had the opportunity had it not been for the Meet The Pastor program, until 1998. Great inroads were made for Christian television with the Meet The Pastor program because it was more than a television program, it was a relationship.  A relationship personally developed between the Orands and every pastoral and ministry guest they shared on Meet The Pastor.  The development of these relationships broke down many walls that had precluded many preachers from television exposure, i.e. denominational television prohibition.

In 1996, Bro. Orand became the Executive Administrative Assistant to the President of KLTJ, Channel 22, Houston, TX, Bro. Eldred Thomas, and remained so until his death in 1998.  This was a financially uncompensated labor of love on Bro. and Sis. Orand's part.  Love for Jesus, for Bro. Thomas, and the ministry of KLTJ, which they had spent over eight years helping to develop, but also a love for Christian television itself.

In 1997, Bro. Orand was invited to the People's Republic of China for the purpose of negotiating the first television exchange between the People's Republic of China and Christian television, Channel 22, Houston, TX.  While in Beijing, Bro. Orand was told that he was the "first religious representative" to be brought to China, at the expense of the People's Republic of China.  This happened because he had learned the importance of honest relationship development.  The negotiation was a success and for the first time, in 1998, Christian produced programming was aired in the People's Republic of China as a television exchange with Chinese programming being aired in America.

In 1998, after the death of Eldred Thomas, the Orands took a hiatus from the Meet The Pastor program, which has continued in a time of prayer, seeking the Lord about the proper future venue.

Throughout the past twenty years, the print media has taken notice of Bro. Orand, and the Jesus Crusades ministry as a result of the messages and work done for the Lord.  Articles have been written in the Dallas Times Herald, Fort Worth Star Telegram, Wall Street Journal Irving Daily News, South Dade News Leader, Austin Statesman, Spokane Review, and many more.  Never has one article been written about the ministry or the Orands personally that brought reproach upon the Gospel.
